National Teams
Overview
It is IPVA’s mission to create a platform for athletic development, college scholarship exposure, and personal growth for junior volleyball players in Iowa. Coaches emphasize the importance of leadership, development of individual skills, team participation and a positive work ethic. We encourage our athletes to be active role models in the community, classroom and on the court. This vision builds confident people/athletes who will positively contribute to communities throughout their lives.
How we do that:
- Experienced Coaches
- We staff each of our club teams with experienced adult coaches. Our coaching staff has been the most consistent coaching staff in Iowa over the past 20 years. We have coaches with collegiate level experience from Division I and down. In addition many of our coaches are currently or have been Varsity level head coaches throughout Central Iowa. We also have coaches that have accumulated multiple top 5 finishes in the top age group coaching club!
- Committed to Training
- We trust in the power of quality repetition and fundamental skill development. Experienced coach instruction is essential for skill development. Scientific research suggests that it takes 3,000 consistent repetitions to make a habit, but only 1 repetition to potentially make a bad habit. Skill training takes a long-term commitment, experienced coach instruction, and a positive motivational climate. We allocate one court per team per two hour practice for each National Level Club team. We don’t believe that simply scrimmaging for two hours is an effective long-term plan to achieve success.
- Caring for the Athletes
- We make it a point to ensure that each athlete feels she is a part of a family at IPVA. We want them to have pride and purpose every time they step foot on a volleyball floor. It is our belief that if we push the athlete within our training process while showing them we care about them we can drastically increase the level of development individually.
On top of these three key elements to our training process we also believe in developing a pipeline for athletes to gain experience along the way. We strive to offer each family a program that fits their individual needs. IPVA desires to train each kid to reach their highest potential and we offer two programs currently that are working to develop athletes/teams that can compete at the highest level nationally. Our IPVA NEXT program is the building block to success at the national team levels.
